By whom, and when done - is unknown, even the name of the last balalaika could not remember. In nature - more plain, I have a refined version :) Almost entirely wooden, even pegs (the design is simple, and reliable, although for precise tuning under the tuning fork is unlikely to fit, but I doubt that rural music in general used this). As I understand it, it was like this before: one peg - one string, if the string was torn, or stretched, it was easier, apparently, to change both. I did UV on the main parts, although they are not really necessary.
